Michael,

I liked your note. I lurk a lot. I think lurking around SI is like watching a computerized whirlwind at times. Sometimes...I find traveling the world is a great way to just kind of get lost from the reality of things. One of my favorite memories is sitting outside on a hot summer starfilled night in the desert of Northern Africa with a group of Tunisian friends talking and listening to Arabic music in the cool desert darkness. Another favorite memory is that of finding my way to a Buddhist temple in South Korea and spending time there in cross-legged meditation while the elderly monk in his orange robe chanted; then receiving a wonderful smile from him when he finished and noticed me there.

This type of enchantment of course contrasts with the hectic reality of my normal life of making a living, raising my teenager and aggressively buying/selling stocks. I recently bought my son shares of APM. I enjoy my regular life, but get restless to get away at times.

Sometimes I think I could get lost in the beauty of Africa - not a really computer kind of place (!). The wonderful tribal people, the fascinating herds of animals, and the English society in the cities of countries like Kenya. You CAN get great sushi in Nairobi.

Anyway, since I live in Japan, I can imagine the fun of your wild escapade in Tokyo with the sushi and Karoke! Knowing the prices here, I can also imagine the beating your ccard took. Also, I can imagine if the city traffic in Bangkok is like that here in Japan, your getting on a motor bike to get a quick ride. The Bikers here drive like maniacs so I can imagine a similar situation in Thailand.

Sincerely, Denise
