Well, adding to the dead horse.....

Here in the Chicago area, Primeco PCS (wireless phone service provider that sells TO CONSUMERS) has recently changed their ads to end with the phrase "Now with networks by Lucent Technologies". If the public doesn't know who Lucent is, then statements like that don't help Primeco sell to consumers, so it is good for Lucent to advertise to consumers. The flip side of the argument, is that BECAUSE LUCENT IS KNOWN (now) BY CONSUMERS, Primeco IS ABLE to add that phrase to their ads and make it helpful for them.
