I read Kaplan article and his opinion on why GOLD should rise.

It really depends on whether the MOF is going to continue to waste money on fraudelent spending. If so then we can expect a further selling of the YEN relative the Dollar {as today}. Japan will not allow the yields to appreciate to far, they are only creating room.

What I find extremely interesting that the YEN is staying below 120 Yen/USD when their own data clearly points to a spiralling deflationary state. It just clearly gets worse ever day.

My opinions on Japan.

Note: the 6300 for the Dow never came, because the FED jumped in to lower rates.... {but it was coming}

Yes GOLD has a chance, but Kaplan seems to lack the ability to predict WHEN, and as such he will always be right on time. That's why I find Kaplan of little use. I feel that the USA has been buying the YEN for months now, and will contiue to buy until the New Year.

I don't feel that the shift away from US Debt is of any large concern. As currency always seeks the BEST RETURN, and that is still the USA {or Canada}

Gold Does have another chance soon, but not in the short {3 month} time frame.
