Frank:

Thanks for the response. Yes, I do recollect coming across a post of yours 'bout a week ago casting clouds of doubt on the credibility of the substance of the Sprint vision.

I'm still am too "uninformed" to weigh the credibility of reality of execution of Sprint's vision. However, my limited knowledge raises the following questions:

Is there a strategy here to spur the RBOCs to upgrade their local plant to fiber optic for "all" to lease & compete along the last mile in the future?

Or does Sprint really see a benefit to building its own infrastructure to compete head-on with the RBOCs, not only head-on, but in the future lease market as well?

Do the benefits of a fully built-out FO network (extending beyond & bypassing the existing RBOC CO infrastructure) so outweigh the existing infrastructure that Sprint really "has something up its "FO" sleeves?

How critical is an extensive FO network to the future Internet connectivity & E-commerce?

Lastly, wouldn't extensive FO network as Sprint envisions, be the telco solution to the longer term threat that the cable HFC infrastructure poses to the thirst for larger & larger capacity as exemplified by distribution of video content files?

Your thoughts appreciated -- as well as thoughts of others wishing to comment.
