Mohan, excellent post regarding Compaq. Makes me wonder if they really know what they are doing when you consider their other blunders, (late to direct selling, stuffing the channels last year, not fully leveraging Altavista, etc.). Now this strategic error in networking. Sounds like a bloated company infatuated with getting to $50 billion in sales, rather than providing customers with what they want. Thankfully, I've been out of CPQ for some time. I've heard that before you buy a company, you should first look at the quality of management. In comparing Dell to Compaq in these terms, Dell is the sure winner. Go DELL! INTCfan
