Creative Computer (mail order) report on Mac sales: Mac Results Strengthening, Platform Helped by Strong Clone Performance "We are also pleased with our results on the Mac side of our business in the fourth quarter, especially in comparison to the overall Mac market trend in the period, and we remain committed to the Mac market. Our results indicate that our market share has grown and we believe there continue to be opportunities to make further gains in market share. We are encouraged by the fact that Macintosh OS-compatible sales now account for over 20% of our Macintosh CPU sales. Mac and Mac OS-compatible CPU sales increased 25% in the fourth quarter of 1996 over the third quarter, a significant achievement in light of the existing uncertainties surrounding the platform. Our customers' purchases indicate that they are excited about the many Apple and Mac OS- compatible CPU choices that are now available on the market. A number of these systems are below the prices of equivalent systems on the Wintel platform, a factor which may drive further interest in the platform in the future," stated Khulusi.
