Dale,
I've been following this company for the last year and a half, and have shorted it several times. The thing that keeps me from thinking this company is not going to go bankrupt anytime soon was their large cash position. While their cash burn rate is high, I didn't think it was time to do a floorless convertible. I don't have a recent tally og their cash on hand. My SWAG is $10mm, which should get them through 1999. it's just a SWAG, so don't anybody take this as gospel.
re: their toothpaste, I don't know if you ever tried ENML's toothpaste, but I have. I haven't found it to do anything special yet. In my opinion, it doesn't taste bad or good. It's just toothpaste. I still prefer Colgate's total or Minty Crest over Enamelon. I got the tube several months ago from my sister (a dentist) who received it as a complimentary tube from the company. I check in with her regularly, and she tells me that the one tube I got was the only one she received. ENML did not send coupons or small samples. Crest and Colgate, on the other hand, give her a certain quantity of free samples (for patients) and she buys additional samples as needed. At every visit, she gives out a free toothbrush and a small (sample size) tube of toothpaste, along with various coupons for dental floss, additional toothpaste, etc.
My point, ENML's national rollout is yet to be effective. Yeah, their toothpaste are on the shelves, and they did a few commercials on national TV, but until they get the support of dentists, they aren't going to achieve any sort of large market penetration.
Lastly, speaking as a biochemist and someone who works in the chemical industry that makes hydroxylapatite, I still don't think the remineralization process if effective to any degree.
