Raven, your illogic over impeachment continues into your 'discussion' of Nicaragua.

1) Where do you think the 'Contras' came from, Arizona? They were the Nicaraguans who didn't fit into the "clean water and free schooling" 'idealism' of the Sandanistas.

2) As for the deaths in the countryside only a liberal would arm women and children and tell them to fight several thousand well-armed soldiers for "the good of the Revolution" -while their husbands were conscripted into the Sandanista regime. How craven.

3) Typifying the cowardice and paranoia of the Sandanistas they maintained the vast majority of their "Army" in the cities for "security reasons". More like they used the army as nothing more than the muscle behind their confiscations of private property -both foreign and domestic, in their murderous looting spree of '79-84. It was done for "the good of the Revolution" as well of course.

4) They never did have that "imperialist American invasion" they kept using as their excuse for the Stalinist control they exerted over the people. As a journalist Raven you should have taken note of this while you were there.

Isn't it sad how all that warfare and killing was done in the name of "social justice" yet in the end the country was democratically returned to the very same private and foreign capital-based economy it had been before the 'Sandanistas' made their power grab?

The pro-democracy parties remain in power in Nicaraqua despite continued murder and assassination by the Sandanistas. Following their botched assassination attempt against Violetta Chamorro it took direct threats from the US (of substantial military assistance) to cause the Sandanistas to back-off trying to murder the country's leaders. Now they just murder candidates.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Daniel Ortega was soon "disfavored" by his followers. He's made a lot of promises he's been unable to deliver on. Just like Clinton's Regime there's only two ways out of the Sandanistas -jail or death. Why is it you "liberals" are attracted to such demagogery?

As for Nicaragua, capitalism funded by foreign investment and tourism remains the basis of the Nicaraguan economy -just as it was in the days of Samosa. The people of that country have continued to elect leaders who realize and promote these goals -not marxism-leninism.

It's sad 10s-of-thousands had to die for Liberals like you to be repudiated.
