Emile,

Let's not forget that no matter how fast the speed between your PC and the server, there are two real bottlenecks that no modem technology will help. The first is the capacity of the routers through which the internet packets have to travel. Unless we start seeing some real upgrades here we will continue to experience delayed packets as I've been seeing in the last couple of days (I guess everyone that's home for the holiday's is busy on the net) and serious congestion when we get a large increase in surfers. Second, the servers need some major upgrade if you want to pump more data and faster out of it's storage. This I see as a real problem as many service providers, even the big financial institutions, are cheap cheap cheap! They would rather deploy one NT based PC server instead of multiple PCs to handle the load or use Unix a much more responsive and higher load carrying and scalable OS.
