Since you spend 100% of your waking hours and 75% of your sleeping hours surfing the 'net, a new laptop should top the list. I would get so frustrated with my old small screen B&W 14.4k AST 486/25. I finally convinced myself that a new laptop would a) result in far more productive time on the 'net, and b) cut way down on the frustration factor. It did both.

When you do buy, the following are musts IMO:

586/133 minimum
12.1" 800x600 active matrix screen
16mb memory
1.2gig hard disk
4x swappable CD/Floppy

You just need to scalp some options and go for it. Speaking of scalping, what the hell is going on with USR today?
