Mark,

Yes! It is fair for anyone who rejects Christ to not have the gift of eternal life. In fact, it would be unfair it this was not the case.

God said believe in Christ and you have eternal life. We all have a chance to make the choice, some more times than other. Now IMO, if a person is exposed to this, they should make it the most important thing they seek in their life, to validate or invalidate it. It's the least someone could do for God. Look at all he does for you! He says if you ask with an open mind and heart, he will tell you. For the intellectual, he has left his holy word to study and validate. And he leaves his evidences all over the place.

If he did not honor his promise, that would be unfair! It would be unfair to anyone who honors it, and did not go to heaven. Or it would be unfair to those who honor it, and then watch people who ignore it, also get the reward. The belief in his promise and the Christian life would all have been a waste for a believer. That's unfair!

Now we must examine why you would think it would be unfair for someone we might judge with earthly standards to be good, but does not go to heaven because they failed to realize who Jesus was. Well honestly, I don't think it is unfair at all. They had every right to examine the claims of God during their life. They chose not too. No one chose for them. They did it. They chose to do good things, that they thought were pleasing to God, but never bothered to ask God or investigate whether those good deeds would get them to heaven. They made their own law, with their own salvation method, and then chose to partake in theirs in total disregard for God's law. So if someone chooses to disregard God's salvation plan by their own free will, then there destiny was chosen by themselves.

This is why so many people get hung up in good works, by their own invention, and think there OK. Well its by their own invention. God never said do so many good things and then you have eternal life. He never said that. He said believe in my son and you have eternal life. Pure and simple. And if we could be saved by works, Christ died for nothing.

One caviat I might add is that if you were never exposed to God's salvation message, or did not have the capability to understand it even if you heard it, God would not condemn you for not believing it. That would be unfair!

Hope that helps!!!!!

God Bless,
Steve
