PRIMUS Awarded Carrier License in the U.K.

MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- PRIMUS Telecommunications Group, Inc., announced today that it has been granted a full facilities-based telecommunications carrier license in the United Kingdom for its wholly owned subsidiary, PRIMUS Telecommunications Ltd. The license, which is granted under Section 7 of the UK Telecommunications Act of 1984, allows PRIMUS to construct, own, and operate its own telecommunications systems and facilities within the United Kingdom, and to own the U.K. half of international undersea fiber optic cable capacity. It also allows direct access to satellite systems including INTELSAT, EUTELSAT, and INMARSAT, and allows PRIMUS to enter into direct correspondent agreements with carriers in other countries.
"This license is another major step in PRIMUS' implementation of its global intelligent network spanning Europe, North America and the Pacific Rim," according to Neil L. Hazard, PRIMUS' Executive Vice President. "PRIMUS will now be able to own both the U.S. and the U.K. halves of international undersea fiber optic cables connecting the two countries, as well as have direct correspondent agreements and international simple resale arrangements between the U.K. and other countries, including the U.S. and Australia."

PRIMUS Announces Multi-Million Dollar Agreement With Ericsson

MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- PRIMUS Telecommunications Group, Inc., one of the fastest growing global telecommunications service providers, announced this month the completion of a multi-million dollar agreement with Ericsson for supply of telecommunications equipment for their European-wide intelligent network. "The agreement with Ericsson to integrate their new generation of switches into the PRIMUS PanEuropean network will enhance our ability to support a new generation of seamless intelligent network services. It is also consistent with our strategic vision of integrating regional services from various European locations into the PRIMUS global network connecting North America and the Pacific Rim," says Paul Singh, CEO and President.
