Was that $17 million just money down the toilet, or what?

I didn't read it that way. I read it as an example of a county government making progress in their renovation effort. One that has completed 34% of its systems and expects to test the others by April 1999. For all I know, the reason for the dog and pony show, was to show progress while asking for more money to complete the task. I agree with Not exactly Pulitzer Prize material. IMO, more information on the process of getting to this point would've helped the article. I posted the link as an example of good news and progress, not as evidence of "no problem" or "Hype, Hope Fraud". I have no doubt that there will be many spectacular y2k failures, I just do not see it as the end of civilization (not implying that you do).

Have a happy holiday..

Tom
