OT Shane, thanks for your post. I am aware of Michael Burke, even though I don't actively read his thread. I read an article by him last week and saw that he considers shorting a “mugs game”. [I looked up mug and it is a fool or a blockhead.] I really have to agree given the difficulties involved in shorting, especially the critical nature of the timing. Perhaps I should consider using puts when I have one of those periodic episodes of bearishness. Of course Mr. Burke could have chosen better stocks to buy puts on since two of his focus “shorts” are two of my biggest and most profitable holdings; INTC and FRE. <g> Merry Christmas to all, -Robert
