Lucent is talking about WANs and LANs, not SANs. This has nothing to do with FC but makes things like ATM over Sonet a potentially less interesting investment. If Lucent can by bass switches, their potential acquisition of Ascend becomes suspect. However, the Qwests and Level3s of the world are still very ATM switch centric.
