When it comes to understanding the free auction process you need to understand the TPO. It is a very important concept.

The TPO is the essence in the Market profile which is a graphic illustration of the auction market. Market Profile and the Liquidity Data Bank (LDB) are now registered trademarks of the Chicago Board of Trade. An incredibly successful floor trader by the name of Eric Steidlmeyer (The Master) wrote the manual in 1984. He use the Market Logic that most floor traders use. He has three publications on the subject. Donald L. Jones later wrote " A traders Guide to Auction Markets" 1988

1. Auction process: provides market with organizational structure.

2. Effective/Efficient: Auction markets promote trade and thus are effective, rather than being efficient (single priced)

3. Market Function: To facilitate trade, to develop value area. Price excess (away from value area) stimulates trade. Long time frame traders extend the range.

4. Failed Auction: Attempted auction with no follow through by long time frame traders.

5. Exhaustion: A played out trend. The passing of control from long to short time frame traders.

Market Profile*: Graphic organizing the market in terms of Price+Time = Value. This is done by using TPO. (Time Price Opportunity)

Tail is an extension of a single TPO. The longer the tail the more likely the extreme will Hold. Look at MOT(1/10),SUNW(3/8),INTC(3/8),CYS(4/21)for examples of tails.

This is my last contribution to this thread. Bernie and et al. if you would like to have further discussions on technical analysis, I can be reached at java@goodnet.com.

Good Trading

Risk is a function of Time.
Risk/Knowledge = Reduced risk
Market understanding + (strategy x You)= Results
