I really needed a laugh Ralph, thank you so very much. I am sure it was your mother who clutched you, as it seems to me it is fathers who go in for experiments. The duck's blood soup sounds revolting, BTW.

When I said foreign movies and books, I did not mean the books had to be foreign. Please excuse my imprecision. I very much enjoyed Dostoevski but I'm a big fan of Trollope, Austen, Hardy and Elliot. I always enjoy rereading books because I get much more out of them after the first reading. I'm always too curious about how the story will turn out to pay attention to nuances the first time around. My mother, who taught english, reads at about the speed of an editor, and catches much more than I do, but she reads a lot less.
