I see no reason to disagree with the fact that Jesus was concerned about the plight of woman in the world and the Jewish culture in particular. He was saying that if you divorce you force your partner to commit adultery. I think He was acknowledging that few would stay celibate therefore they would be breaking the Law of Moses concerning adultery at some point. Adultery is about betrayal and spiritual bonds between a man and woman. The certificate of divorce did not break the spiritual bonds. So when they found another partner they were committing adultery. I think it goes back to God's perfect plan that a man and woman would mate for life. That's how things were with Adam and Eve. Adultery and divorce are very destructive to both people involved, but I think the woman has it worse. There are a lot of different views about Jesus and I am not familiar with this monks writings.
