Happy Christmas to all posters and lurkers on this thread!

_____

b.t.w c.s.y2k means: the news group comp.software.year-2000; use your news reader to access it; or use:

dejanews.com

A small group of posters on c.s.y2k are ahead of all other Y2k websites I can think of in thinking on Y2k.

In the past 2 years, they steadily came up with themes 1-3 months before these themes were discussed on a broader scale; and before these themes turned up in the regular press. E.g. think of contingency planning; Y2k survivalism; embedded system issues, 'Jo anne' effect; Time Dilatation etcc.

Some of the most interesting persons are:

- Cory Hamasaki (my favorite)
- Paul Milne ('fedinfo')
- Pam Physted
- Jo Anne (from the 'Jo Anne' effect)
- Dave Eastabrook

The 'Eastabrook' and the 'Edwards' are scales that are used to describe how serious one thinks the effects of Y2k on society will be. Edwards running from 1 to 5; 1 is no effect; 5 is collapse of society.
