This is what the letter from the Jewish federation said about the Sothern Baptist attempt at bringing salvation to the Jewish people:
"When the Southern Baptist Convention passed a formal resolution
targeting jews for conversion, the Jewish Federation's response was
sure and swift.
We immediately circulated 300,000 postcards of protest so members
of the jewish community could register their outrage. Despite being
inundated by thousands upon thousands of postcards, the
Southern Baptists show no signs of relenting. In fact, the current
response to jewish objections is a memo mailed on official letterhead
which encourages the recipient to visit messianic congregations or
"know jesus as messiah."This insulting response implies that without
accepting jesus as "savior,"jews somehow remain flawed, incomplete
and inadequate in Southern Baptists' eyes.</b.[IN OTHER WORDS, THE MODERN JEWS ARE GOING TO HELL WITHOUT JESUS AS THEIR MESSIAH.]
While we at the jewish federation believe in the right of all people to
practice their own religion, we say to the southern baptists in
no uncertain terms, "DO NOT TARGET OUR YOUNG PEOPLE --
OR JEWS OF ANY AGE -- FOR CONVERSION."
Until the Southern Baptist Convention rescinds this offensive resolution,
the jewish federation must continue to keep up the pressure.
We must
continue to strengthen our youth and college programs to ensure that
our young people will be able to withstand any assault on their religious identity.
