CalMike are probably on of the industry leaders. Other large corporations are in this too notably Alcatel, NEC, Scientific Atlanta, Andrews. Not to mention companies such as Huhes, Qualcom, Motorola, Comstream(Spar), Stmi, Miteq and a whole host of others. Some provide RF equipment, some integrate system, some peddle switching technologies etc. The field is extremely large. However, most of them overlap in some areas. CalMike is probably a good bet if you want to invest specifically in wireless communications. However, the winners in this game will be the guys who provide the best and cheapest technology to make a phone call. On the satellite side (the only stuff I really know) that means efficent use of bandwidth. I bought 500 shares at 14 and another 1.5k at 12+. Personally, I will dump 500 at 18, and the rest at 19. Then in February I will buy up again in the $14 to $16 range. |
