Among other tings he notes that on 12/22/98 da "Japanese gov't announced that they would cease direct purchase of Japanese long term gov't bonds. ... In essence, they have decided to allow their long term interest rates to approach those of most European countries." I don't know how high their rates may go but rising Japanese rates will pressure da bond and da $buck. Mike
