Softbank is primarily a venture investor in Yahoo. Most of the Yahoo stock Softbank owns they paid around $5 per share when Yahoo was still private. Softbank recently bought another stake in the $90's, as a move to concentrate holdings in strong hands so a hostile takeover would be impossible.
