Stephen:
I agree that "pro-shorters" might let it run, but I disagree with the concept that a lot of short covering has occurred Thursday: in fact, only 217,800 shares were traded Thursday and I imagine that at least 3/4 of shares bought were NOT short covering but simply buy orders because (a) B.O. numbers are looking great, (b) Christmas Weekend might be good for ABL and (c) PIXR was exploding up at the end of the day. Compared to about 2.5 million PIXR shares short a month ago (I don't have the December data as it was not published in this week's Barron's) the number of investors who might have covered Thursday is simply minuscule at this point,... but in the meantime, PIXR share price rose quite a lot. Sellers might be drying out. We will see if that is true, soon.
Knowing how crazy this market is (see Internet stocks), I'd rather be long PIXR than short at this point! We will see what happens this coming week.
Agree that shorts could come back in a hurry, especially if this stock market crashes but they will have to fight some investors who are getting bullish on PIXR and will have to find some shares available to short...!
