Bob,

In the entire Northwest Territories the population is only 65,000 people. There are that many in 10 blocks in LA. Their impact on the environment is negligible compared to just one screwup at a mine. The water from Lac de Gras (the lake) is the primary water supply for the Kugluktuk residents-in other words, their drinking water. They probably just want to be sure that the gurus, experts, and engineers that Diavik are paying know what they're talking about. Cal
