From my DD I gather company policy is to cut only trees over 20" diameter (Brasil gov't mandates at least 16"). This practice is what leads me to believe they support "sustained yield" which is a universal objective of forest policy. Madera can cut tress from their acreage indefinitely, it seems.

I don't think the environmental website has nothing to do with the business of timber cutting. My understanding is that every new venture in the Amazon lately starts with "eco-" or "green-". They're just joining the club.

There's little point in harvesting culled or diseased trees, since the lower sale price makes the practice inefficient.

My degree is in forestry, tho I don't work in the industry. I'll be happy to help interpret as I can for the thread.

Regards
