>>As you know, I am not from the technical side of things. Is it impossible to kick our postings into a Word format?<<

The only way to edit efficiently, as far as I've found,
is to use your own editor, spell check it, etc., then
cut and paste it into the stupid tiny box of
an SI editor that is not resizable. This is the fastest
way I can think of, and if your Netscape session crashes
or your computer session crashes, then your own editor (such
as wordperfect) will save your file.

G*d-D*mn, do you know how many files have been
lost by people because they don't have save capability
on this pitiful SI editors???

So, there's no way you can input a Word format file.

RE: the "the Java problem"....This is my understanding....
When we use the SI editor, we are using the CPU on on
SI server. The program or application (editor) is doing
the work in SI headquarters. The idea with JAVA is that
there is a "generic" program (the editor for instance)
that can be downloaded to
your computer and run on your own processor. The problem
with this idea is that it's impossible to create a program
that runs everywhere. The JAVA idea, created by what's his
name at SUN, is a solution to this.
The answer is that everybody has a JAVA black box (JAVA
middleware) on their
computer, so that we can all download common objects and
use them without having to worry about what type of computers
we are all using.

The "JAVA problem" is that, many places do no want to use
JAVA middleware for one reason or another. My place for
instance wouldn't allow it because it's a security hazard.
There are at least a good half dozen reasons I imagine why
people are not open to using the JAVA middleware software (the
black box). Another reason, is everybody would have to down
load it and compile it, so this takes some programming
skills which eliminates most users enthusiasm.

Previously, also, we had two versionos JAVA...MSFT and
SUN, until the courts declared MSFT JAVA illegal, but now
it seems that MSFT has a chance of changing that somehow....

As you can see, it gets pretty sticky. I could go on if you
want, but I'm afraid I'm boring you all to tears...

(I hope this makes sense, because it's too much a pain
in the butt, to go back and edit it<VBG>)
