do you know how many files have been lost by people because they don't have save capability on this pitiful SI editors

Speaking of control codes, as a precaution on long posts I type {Ctrl}-AC (hold down {Ctrl}, and while holding it down type "A" then "C"). This 1) selects all the text in the active (edit) window and 2) copies it to the clipboard. Thus, if you get some odd error message and lose your text you just need to go back to the applicable post, hit respond again, and then type {Ctrl}-V to insert it back in.
