Thanks for that second link. I had not read that interview before. I learned one new piece of interesting information which I wanted to share with the thread.

I had been under the impression that TSIG would be making only $1 on each CD sold from their website. It turns out that is not the case at all. The $1 profit is accurate as regards top 40 and other very popular CDs.

However, RG mentioned that a significant portion of the CDs commonly sold over the Internet are what they call "catalogue" CDs. These are older albums which TSIG pays only 5 or 6 dollars for, which allows a much greater profit margin.

Now I don't know what the average proft/CD is, but from what RG was saying, it sounded to me like it would be substantially greater than $1, perhaps double that.

If that is so, then this is big news, at least to me. Perhaps Rich, Marty or REW might clarify this.
