Justin, I just responded to penni re: prednisone, please click backwards. The only steroid I have taken is prednisone, but I think they are pretty much the same except for strength. Taking prednisone is like making a deal with the devil. You can't win. All you can do is trade one set of side effects for another. I am constantly walking a tightrope, titrating my dose, balancing. If I don't take it, my macrophages attack my joints, and I get horrible painful calcium bumps on my tendons and ligaments. I can't move, because my tendons hurt so much, and my joints swell and are painful. So, I gladly take it, and thank God for it. But then, I become susceptible to infections, and suffer from coughs, colds, a chest full of phlegm, sore throats, and boils, zits and painful cuts that don't heal.
The first time you take prednisone, you may think it is a miracle. Think again. It also makes you less susceptible to pain, so you continue to exert yourself even though you are injured. But you really are injured, you just don't know it.
It is dangerous stuff, but seductive. |
