Carpet Bombing Part II: Looks like the next phase of carpet bombing has started. Guess what in my morning Washington Post newspaper this morning? An AOL 4.0 disc with 100 free hours. Is this just local in the Washington area, or did everyone get it? Also, it is the "All new AOL Platinum Premier Version 4.0," in a glossy silver jacket, but I suspect it is the same as Version 4.0 with all of the upgrades that have been added since 4.0 came out, such as graphics in e-mail, etc.

I did see the figures on AOL slightly surpassing all other ISPs combined. With this carpet bombing, the movie publicity, and all the new PCs being bought for Christmas, I'm sure the gap will widen even more. I suspect the latest subscribers are also the newest at the internet, so that AOL is a logical choice for them.

As they say, AOL is the cockroach of cyberspace :-)
