rll, Aus and all -

I'm not sure that the argument about moving parts rules against the click in cameras because after all camers are ( at the moment) full of moving parts.

Looks to me as follows:-

1. CF has just about won the battle over solid state memory for d-cameras. 1999 should see all the competition fall away. Therefore just about every d-camer is going to be CF equiped.

2. 1. above took quite some time to achieve and design ins for the world camera market take time. In addition it would mean re-educating people again to yet another medium with all sorts of problems and bits and peices to then download to PC's etc. Not impossible but it is definately swimming against the tide.

3. I have said on this thread that the biggest use of CF is not going to be in d-camers at all. I should be precise here in that I really mean the MMC card. This card is going to have its biggest market in mobile phones ( especially the new generation see the QCOM thread) and in portable music players. My guess is that the Rio is going to change the world much more quickly than the d-camers have done so far.

The Rio and its decendants are the inheritors of the walkman. Adults but kids are buying the Rio and kids don't have as much concern for how much they spend to get the things they want as adults do. See Nike and youngsters walking around in designer clothes.

My guess is that music is just about the biggest item on kids annual expenditure and the Rio and net downloads are simply fantastic. Even I like them and I like them even better when the kids have to go buy SNDK MMCs every week to store their favorite music.

I think that the music applications are simply mindboggling. Check out the MP3.com sites and download their juke box. It is unbelievable and you need a Rio and those devices are going to need SNDK.

LOve to get some feedback from the thread to see if anyone agrees with me.

Regards,

L
