Maybe so, but would there not be a premium paid to an e-commerce site with ingenuity, creativity, eclecticism, style and technical prowess? For example, I want a rice cooker that operates with fuzzy logic, so it "knows" when the rice is done and turns itself off. I looked at several in an oriental grocery, and I know that there are a number of different features, but I don't know which ones I want. I do remember that Consumer Reports had an article on rice cookers within the last couple of years. I plan to look for a rice cooker online, if one of them has either the Consumer Reports article or a similar thing that is consumer oriented, it would create a lot of goodwill. On the other hand, I tried to subscribe to George Gilder's newsletter on-line, using my credit card, and it would not submit. Not a problem with the card, I have used it a LOT since then (Christmas), just something at the site or in the software. Under the circumstances, I was NOT impressed. |
