Very interesting double major. My husband's first degree was in Geology. I went with him on many field trips. A freezing hike in hip deep snow at Mono Lake particularly sticks in my mind. I can't remember why we were there, although we did check a water station somewhere along the way, but I DO remember the "great deal" we got on our lodgings. The heat had gone out so we got a room at half the regular rate. Biology field trips were a lot more pleasant. One of my Professor's had a lavish research grant and he took those of us who did field work for him out to superb restaurants.

BTW I liked "My Brilliant Career" too. Have you seen "An Angel at My Table?" Its a New Zealand film so I guess it doesn't fall in the Aussie category, but its close.
