I just remembered that one can use a fuel called 'jet A-1' instead of kerosene. I'm not sure if this is the same as 1K or not [ashamed to admit I don't know what it is].

Jet A-1 is actually the fuel used in airplanes and from what I have been told, is a purer form of kerosene. I used this in kerosene lanters for two years when I was working in a developing country in a no-electricity area. It was a _lot_ cleaner than regular kerosene. I'm not sure where one can buy it over here but I should think it would be cheaper than kerosene.
