Iridium Info:

On a whim, I just decided to catch up on recent IRIDF news. Dug up some interesting things.

Apparently, they bought out a company called Claircom that will give them access to airplane service on several prominent international carriers. 1400 Commercial and 350 private jets. You figure that there might be a good 50 phones on each of these commercial jets...that's a lot of phones. <edit> looking into the press release, Claircom currently has over 100,000 phones installed, and is the 2nd largest provider in the United States of telephone communications to commercial airplanes. Can we say "$3 billion" for brightpoint?"

There is reportedly a distribution problem, although it is blamed on customs delays, not Brightpoint.

25000 handsets had been shipped as of the 23rd. 1000 additional are shipping daily. Kyocera is coming online by the end of the year.

For Brightpoint, this looks like around $100,000,000 in revenue for the quarter. I don't want to speculate on how this will flow to the bottom line. I would be interested to know what numbers were used in guidance for the quarter...so if anyone is in contact with management, here's a good question.
