I useta believe that, too, until I had my own two boys, now aged 11 and 13. My husband is a mild-mannered man, wears Birkenstocks, drinks green tea and listens to New Age music, although he is half German and rather . . . . insistent on getting his own way. The boys are rowdy wild loud and carry on like hooligans. Every so often I have to throw away another piece of furniture, usually chairs, and I buy drinking glasses by the dozen.
They are not cruel except for practical jokes, don't really hurt anything but each other when they wrestle, don't play organized sports, don't hurt animals, they are good kids, but the house is constantly ringing with the sounds of "weapons" and "battles." It is just their nature. |
