Pasquale--that's way cool! And nice of you to connect with us all the way from dem der Georgian hills. We'll make a point to get Jimmy Red, Phyllis and Michelle into our Googies conversation. I became quite friendly with Donna, the waitress, last time I was there. The bartenders are really great also--it's good to see musicians tending bar!
John Sebastian? Of course, "You didn't have to be so nice--would have loved you anyway..." How could I forget!?! Yeah, them were the days, everybody walking around with Sgt. Peppers and West Point jackets, David Peel and the Lower East Side playing music on the chess tables, me sitting there playing chess with The Wizard, a stately gentlemen who always wore his best suit whenever he showed up to play chess in Washington Square Park. Yes, those were tremendous days and quite a time to be young so full of discovery.
They'll probably be a half a dozen of us at Googies--maybe more, depending on who shows up on the surprise list. It turned out two weeks before we had our gathering over Thanksgiving week, the Zulu technical staff was in there having drinks. Is this ironic or is this cosmic? Either way, it's pretty neat.
I'm not sure where I'm going to be on Easter--either ZuluIsland, will move to Cambridge or I will move into New York, can't tell just yet. But as soon as you have a date set for when you'll be coming, let me know and we'll set up another Zulu Roundtable at Googies!
Happy New Year to Ya, Squally! Thanks for pitchin' in and helping to make our Googies connection special. |
