Congratulations Brady. Your statement regarding Pat Hayton is a sensible one. All I can say is that I've met him twice, plus I have had some telephone and email communications. It's my firm belief, based on my personal and direct communications, that he's been working hard to pull all of this together and I support his efforts.
You may recall in the early going I defended him, even when I had no idea who he was. All I had before me then were what seemed like a host of obvious mischaracterization. Since I've met him, I've concluded my original position regarding him was the correct one.
I'm not a hardball businessman by any sense of the imagination. So I personally do not know what being one is like. But it seems apparent to me that in the course of the past year Hayton's had to make some tough decisions, particularly regarding personnel and issues which have impacted their careers. It looks like the situation got pretty ugly, and I suspect many of the anti-Hayton slurs we saw then and see today are a result of those decisions.
So I ask: Has Hayton made mistakes? Probably. But is he still focused on his original business goal and seeing it into fruition? You bet. He didn't appear to of us investors who met him recently at Googies, in New York, as a man bent on failure. I was further impressed by his ability to take in stride, and in good humor even, those who have been doing their utmost to condemn and destroy his credibility.
So if, as has been alluded, he's had some less than successful business initiatives in the past, I see it as a mark of character that he's gotten back up, brushed himself off and continued on in the pursuit of building a successful company. For our sakes, let's hope he knocking on magic's door with the ZuluGroup.com business initiative. 'Cause it sure looks like a mighty strong concept to me, notwithstanding the difficulties in pulling it all together.
Once again, Brady, I congratulate your decision to stay focused on the real issues and not a diversionary one.
