Bob, I have tried that approach in the past to no avail. And came to the conclusion that it really isn't about right and wrong, but about protecting the Democratic party from the (perceived) evil Republicans.

I also asked repeatedly what these Democrats who so strongly support the President believe in. What they see as a vision for America. Only one person Borzou even bothered to try.

The media have largely drummed this into the electorate. Every night you see on the news such grossly slanted questions and coverage of the American political scene, in some way's I almost don't blame them for being so illogically partisan.

Months ago on this thread and the Boink thread you could see the outright HATRED of Republicans by those who supported the President. First, by claiming it was all a part of a "vast right wing conspiracy". On thru the tortured weeks of believing the President was telling the truth, to the claims that Monica Lewisnky was doing this all for a book deal. Now we actually have seemingly intelligent posters who cling to the belief that he never lied and committed perjury! In the end, I believe he will admit to perjury or be impeached. The Republicans and some learned Democratic Senator will allow nothing less to be imprinted in the history books.

This is what separates conservatives from liberals. And of course most don't fall exactly into those camps, but let's look at this thread and those who support the President and those who do not support the President. Almost to a person they find nothing wrong with any Democrat. Any behavior is believed to be justified because it's far worse if a Republican was sitting in that position. If this had been a conservative President he would have been forced to resign months ago (by Republicans). Principles are more important to conservatives than to Democrats. Democrats live in a world of moral relativism. That's one of the reasons that even though conservatives make up a large percentage of the population, they were in the minority for over 40 years. Politics to them isn't a religion like it is for liberals.

Saving the right to abort 9 month old fetuses and keeping those eeevil religios fanatics (like Jerry Falwell) from taking over America is just too important to Democrats. So they are blinded by the wrongdoings of an administration which out and out spits on the rule of law and the Constitution.

To me it's not even a close call. The man has committed perjury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering and polluted the Oval office with antics we wouldn't accept from our teenagers. Enough is enough. He is only one person, no where near important enough to toss the rule of law aside over.

Actions are linked to consequences. We must send that clear message to our children's children.

Michael
