One thing you guys have missed concerning stops: when the price is breached they become market orders. That means that if you have a stop at say $130, and the there is a gap down at the opening to say $120, that's where you will sell the stock.

I never use stops. They are an invitation to larceny by the market makers because all stops are visible.
