<<The issue has never been whether Clinton's behavior was wrong. That's just something the Dems trot out to try to defend him. The issue is that, at least in his Paula Jones deposition, Clinton's behavior as illegal. >>

The Constitution specifies that impeachment and removal from office must be for treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors. The founders wanted to prevent political vendettas that used minor crimes as a basis for removing a president from office. Perjury in a civil suit does not make the grade, in my opinion.

As for your comments regarding the intelligence of the people, they seem to be smart enough to understand that it is illegitimate and dangerous to our form of government for a prosecutor to target the president of the United States. Regardless of how stupid they may be, the decision of the people in selecting a president is supposed to mean something in a democracy. Removing a president from office should only be done for the most egregious conduct -- such as treason or bribery or similar acts.
