I went back and reread the Forbes Mag<July7, 1997>, in a interview with Don Valentine and Doug Leone of the Sequoia Capital. Both of them stressed the importance of identifying the trend versus finding the companies. A trend will launch a whole new industry which will create companies. Cisco and INS were cited as the best examples of identifying a whole new industry. Looks like to me that Valentine is betting on NTAP this time. I wish him well. PS: they both said CFO's are a waste of time, citing CSCO had five CFO's since Valentine put down the seed money and could have gone on without one.
