Antidumping Duties Imposed on Japanese Vendors Remain in Force

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to recent
announcements related to the Supercomputing Antidumping Case, Silicon Graphics, Inc.
(NYSE: SGI - news) issued the following statement today:

Recent news service reports may have left false impressions that the U.S. International
Trade Commission's (ITC) 1997 decision has been overturned and the antidumping duties
imposed on Japanese supercomputer vendors are no longer in force. As the global
market-leader in vector and other high-end supercomputers, Silicon Graphics feels it is
important to clarify this situation.

The Court of International Trade ordered the ITC to review one portion of its earlier
decision, while upholding all other elements of the decision. The review was ordered as a
result of a recent change in the law requiring that a different standard of proof be applied
to this portion of the ITC's decision.

Silicon Graphics is confident that the ITC will reach the same conclusion in this review as
it reached earlier. In the meantime, the duties imposed as a result of the ITC decision
remain in effect.
