Yes Edit/Copy are events in the Windows OS, but it still takes a programmer to implement it right

The actual events are WM_COPY and WM_PASTE

WM = windows message

Nowdays, many of the visual development tools precode these events for the programmer. In theory, it will get implemented for you by the tool if you stick with the windows logo standards.

When a user initiates the event 'copy', I as the programmer implement a function to cause an action to occur.

Oh and a lot of programmers implement as an alternative Ctrl+Insert for copy and shift+insert for paste.

also fwiw: alt+prtscrn and prtscrn are built into the OS. They both copy screen/window images into the windows clipboard...
