Until (and if) the PC becomes a part of the home entertainment system, I don't see how 2 player games (as opposed to network games) can become popular.

Infared ports for hand-helds, my man. I can imagine a new craze where kids challenge each other on the playground. In my day it used to be pencil fighting.
