Hello all! I hope everyone had a great holiday! My present to you all was a week of silence :) But now I'm baaaack...
First, a thank you to everyone kind enough to offer suggestions about the disk write problem. I had suspected power mgmt, and have disabled it, and am waiting to see if it works. I just got back in town, so I haven't had the "pleasure" of sitting in front of the 'puter for 8 hrs a day...
Second...I am getting killed again today...great to be back. Holding losers through December is quite painful. Watching AMZN and company is more painful...
Regarding TDFX and foreign cardmakers making a grey market...not a problem. For starters, we are clearly shifting to an OEM market, which means big volume. Don't think they could squeeze that from under our noses. Second, if it is to have any impact at retail, they would need to go through big distributors or retail chains. Doubt the big guys would want to deal with that, and again, we can shut off the supply of chips to Europe or just give the "exclusive" to one of their competitors. Distirbutors who end up carrying grey market cards may find that they don't get any real cards from TDFX in the future.
And lets not forget, if we want to keep things from being competitive, we just sell the chips at a higher margin...everybody wins!
As for Schick leaving, that is not good, IMHO.
As for every idiot "journalist" that feels compelled to include CREAF's insults on V3 when reporting on the TDFX/STBI merger...I say let them eat cake...
Went to DC and picked up: Half Life, Falcon 4, Sin and will pick up Thief soon...Life is good...though the market is awful.
Sun, shoulda picked up VISX... *ugh* can't win these days... |
