Hi rudedog... I guess it depends on what you mean by "getting its butt kicked", tee hee. If you mean performance I agree. If you mean price not so. My feeling is that a number of applications, such as analytical stuff like hyperian are moving onto departmental servers and these shops just want whatever comes on the box. Msft will win those. You might think its insignificant but this is all processing that used to happen in the main data center.

I dont think much of Oracle 8, however 8i is another matter. If 8i technology really takes off in the apps space, then I agree Sql server will be hurting until they can offer the same.
