Hmmm... well, this is all old news, but I was under the impression at one point that sql server would be bundled with the Dell NT servers at certain price points which I was told were competitive. This was last year before the DOJ activity and it looks like they may have scrapped those plans... the customers perception would have been that sql server was free. Of course there are the support costs etc and I was told that Oracles "anyone can call" support was vastly better than msft support which is more restrictive (above and beyond any quality issues). Admittedly, I had a lot of problems with Oracle (7) at Dell so Im a little biased against it. We were struggling with simple things like sql loader over an NT network. Msft was much better in that environment... but, I suppose much of that is fixed now.
