Re the Byrds: Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, and Chris Hillman all went on; Gene Clark and Michael Clarke died, both of alcohol and drug-related causes. Later members of note were Gene Parsons and Clarence White.

The original members wanted to retire the name and I think that the gig in NJ was aimed at reserving their claim to it.
